My name is Kelly and I'm the Lone Ranger of this little operation I call Mary's Garden. I began my ramble down the garden path in 2003, after going in search of rosaries to give for First Communion gifts. I wasn't on the internet much in those days, beyond being aware it was a 'thing' and I could get there on the computer I used mainly for a word processor, so I visited several brick and mortar stores (as we call them these days). I found myself disappointed with the generic, mass producing offerings available, until I stumbled across a corner store in the tiny town of Pilsen, Kansas. There I discovered an oddity in my search, handmade rosaries! One was even made with little basketball beads, a sport particularly loved by a little boy I was wanting to buy for.

After that visit, I quickly familiarized myself with the strange thing called the 'internet' and my world opened up! I ordered supplies, found tutorials, and, well, it was a bit of a learning curve, but now here I am.

While rosaries remain my first love, I enjoy making many different items and using different techniques. The days I discovered chainmaille and soldering were happy ones. At the moment I'm looking forward to trying Viking knit. I don't like to use the word art when talking about myself or my work, I'm not comfortable aspiring to such a lofty goal :) I much prefer to call myself a craftsman, as in someone who studies, practices, and someday masters, a craft. That is what I am, or at least what I hope to someday be.

I discovered Etsy in 2008 after joining an online jewelry maker's group. It took some convincing, but I decided to open up shop. I was terrified. But I'm so glad I did! I have met so many wonderful people and it's amazing to know that now my pieces have homes in all corners of the world.
